Linsey's Story
When Linsey Snyder was five years old, her father came home from a business trip bearing gifts, including a makeup kit for his little girl. She sprinted to the bathroom upstairs, set herself in front of her mother’s vanity and began a love affair with makeup that would change her life. But after a few agonizing minutes of desperately digging the applicator into the beautiful shades of red, Linsey came to the sad realization that the “makeup” was hard, colored plastic – nothing more than a child’s toy. Heartbroken and angry, she became obsessed with getting her hands on the real thing.
In the 20-some years that have passed since that fateful day, Linsey has spent endless hours and countless dollars on cosmetics. This hobby left her wallet empty and her drawers full of last-season’s beauty trends. As she reached her mid-20s, she began to feel more and more alienated by the marketplace. All she found were flashy fads that were unsuitable for young professionals and overly conservative looks that left her feeling dowdy and bored. This dissatisfaction became the inspiration behind Face Time – a collection of foolproof makeup that makes a woman look and feel pretty and appropriate in any situation.
After growing up in Buffalo, NY, and attending college in Florida, Linsey moved to New York City to begin a career – in what field, she wasn’t quite sure. After an exhausting stint working for Saturday Night Live, she spent three years behind-the-scenes at an upscale New York eatery. Linsey found herself inspired by the artistry in high-end cuisine, but still unfulfilled. The dream of her very own cosmetic company still loomed large in her mind.
After a pep talk from her friends and family... she found the confidence to give it a go. She went to a few trade shows, met a few people in the business, and decided that she would make this work no matter what obstacles came her way. She took some money she had saved up and came up with her collection, along with the concept for “Beauty in a Box,” and started packaging and shipping out of her Manhattan apartment. Face Time Cosmetics was born.
Face Time is the result of a passion for cosmetics that began with a five-year-old and her fake makeup kit. Its products are driven by Linsey Snyder’s belief that every woman, no matter how much time, money or drawer space she can devote to cosmetics, should be able to look gorgeous, sophisticated and appropriate.
